What is Saving a Selection?
Quick Start
Open the Edit Audio tool
Choose the Edit tool and pick the track you want to take a piece from.
Mark your selection
Drag across the sound wave to highlight the part you want to save.
Press Save Selection
Click the Save Selection button (the blue disk with the amber mark) in the Edit panel.
Choose, name and save
First choose your device, Google Drive or OneDrive. The final window confirms that destination and lets you name the WAV before saving.

The Save Selection button lives in the Edit Audio panel at the bottom, next to the other selection buttons. It stays greyed out until you have marked a selection on a track — once you do, it lights up and is ready to use.
What You Get
Your selection is saved as a WAV file — a common sound file that plays on almost any device.
The file is named after the track plus the word "selection", so it is easy to spot. You can change the name before saving.
Saving a selection copies the sound out — it never trims or changes the track it came from.

• Zoom in first: Use the Zoom tool to mark exactly the piece you want.
• Build a sound library: Save your favourite short sounds to reuse in other projects.
• Keep the whole project too: Save a Selection is just for one piece — use Save Your Project to keep all your tracks.
Common Questions
The Save Selection button is greyed out.
You need to mark a selection first. Open the Edit Audio tool, choose a track, and drag across the sound wave. The button will then become active.
It says my selection is too short.
A selection needs to be at least a tiny bit long to save. Mark a slightly bigger area and try again.
What is the difference from Export as WAV?
Export as WAV makes one file from all your tracks mixed together. Save a Selection saves just the one marked piece from a single track.
Does it change my track?
No. It only copies the marked part into a new file. Your track stays exactly as it was.
